Former University of Kentucky basketball player Anthony Davis will be in Hopkinsville later today. Davis will sign autographs and visit with fans at Patriot Chevrolet from 5-7:30 this evening. Also scheduled to be at the autograph session today is former UK All American Kenny “Sky” Walker.
Meanwhile, another former UK basketball player has been arrested on sex charges. Lexington police say 25-year-old Michael Porter is charged with six counts of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse. Investigators say Porter is accused of having sexual contact with a 14 and 15 year old girl on several occasions. The report indicates Porter met the girls while serving as a group leader at a church function.
Porter played at Kentucky from 2006-09, but left the program after his junior year.
The Madisonville Messenger reports the 2nd region boys’ basketball player of the year Jacob Scott of Webster County signed a letter Monday to play for West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah. Scott averaged 20.3 points for the Trojans this past season in leading them to their first 6th district title in 26 years.
College baseball action today has Austin Peay at Belmont, Murray State meets second ranked Kentucky at Brooks Stadium in Paducah and Western Kentucky entertains Eastern Kentucky.
Major League Baseball has a matinee game in St. Louis between the Cardinals and Cubs, while Cincinnati is at Atlanta tonight.
Two games on the NBA playoff schedule tonight have Indiana at Miami, where the Heat lead the series 1-0 and the LA Clippers are at San Antonio for game one of that series.
One game in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs tonight has Los Angeles at Phoenix, with the Kings leading the series 1-0.
