Hopkinsville High graduate to be Christy Soldo has announced she will play college basketball for Murray State. The Kentucky All Star will attend Murray State on a presidential scholarship as opposed to an athletic scholarship.
Soldo leaves Hopkinsville as the girls all time leading scorer. She led Hopkinsville to a 32-5 record this past season, winning the school’s first 2nd region title and making an appearance in the Elite Eight at the Girls Sweet 16.
Trainer Bob Baffert tells the Courier Journal Kentucky Derby runner up Bodemeister is headed to Baltimore for The Preakness Stakes to run this Saturday. Bodemeister led the Derby until the last stretch when I’ll Have Another passed Bodemeiser to take the first leg of the Triple Crown.
The Tennessean reports former Tennessee State basketball coach Nolan Richardson the Third has died at age 47. Tulsa, Oklahoma police say Richardson—the son of former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson—was found dead in his home Sunday afternoon. The cause of death has not been released, but is believed to be natural causes. Richardson was 23-41 during his tenure at TSU.
CBS Sports.com reports Virginia Commonwealth University will leave the Colonial Athletic Association to join the Atlantic 10 beginning in 2013. VCU joins Butler as the second school in recent weeks to announce they are joining the A-10.
