Only one player west of Interstate 65 has been selected for the Kentucky Boys All Star basketball team that will meet Indiana’s best in early June. The Courier Journal reports Twin Lancaster of Logan County is the only player from western Kentucky selected to the roster. Kentucky will meet Indiana June 8th in Louisville’s Freedom Hall and June 9th at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
As WHOP Sports reported this morning, Hopkinsville High’s Christy Soldo has been selected for the Kentucky girls all star team.
The Courier Journal reports University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino will officially introduce Kareem Richardson as the Cards new assistant coach at an afternoon news conference. Richardson comes to Louisville from Xavier University and replaces Richard Pitino, who was recently named head coach at Florida International.
The Tennessee Titans have signed 15 undrafted free agents today, including offensive guard Chandler Burden of Kentucky and tight end Brandon Barden of Vanderbilt. The Titans have also signed undrafted punter/kicker Will Baston of North Alabama.
Nashville Predators forward Mike Fisher is among three finalists for the NHL's Foundation Player Award. The award is presented annually to the player who applies the core values of hockey to further enrich his community. The winner will be announced during the 2012 NHL Awards to be held June 20th in Las Vegas.
