College Football: The Courier Journal reports the Kentucky-Louisville football game scheduled for September 1st has been moved to Sunday, September 2nd. The game will be televised on ESPN at 2:30 Hopkinsville time on that day according to a release from the Big East Conference.
Three members of the defensive side of Kentucky’s team left the squad Monday. Sophomore linebackers Tim Patterson and Justin Henderson left the team, while sophomore defensive end Mermin Delic was dismissed for a violation of team rules. Six members of UK’s defense have left the team since the end of last season.
College Basketball: The Tennessean reports Vanderbilt’s John Jenkins has decided to enter the NBA Draft. Jenkins issued a statement through the university Monday saying he plans to hire an agent and not return for his senior season. The Commodores will have no returning starters next season.
Western Kentucky women’s coach Michelle Clark-Heard announced Monday the hiring of Margaret Richards as an assistant coach. Richards had worked this past year at Weber State and before that was at North Texas. Richards also worked with Clark-Heard when she was head coach at Kentucky State.
LSU coach Trent Johnson, who resigned from the school Sunday was named the new coach at Texas Christian Monday. Johnson leaves LSU after four seasons and replaces Jim Christian, who was named the new coach at Ohio University last week.
Minor League Baseball: The Nashville Sounds lost the opening game of a series at Oklahoma City 4-2, with game two of the series this evening.
The Bowling Green Hot Rods were shutout in the series opener at West Michigan 4-0, with game two of the series this evening.
