University Heights hosts Hopkins Central, Fort Campbell travels to Russellville, Webster County is at Crittenden County, Union County hosts Daviess County.
High School Softball: Todd Central hosts Harrison County, Logan County at Grayson County, Dawson Springs hosts Union County, Webster County hosts Livingston Central, Henderson County at Muhlenberg County.
Christian County’s softball team finished runner up in the Play It Again Sports tournament this past weekend in Clarksville. The Lady Colonels lost to Beech High School 4-2 in the championship game.
College Basketball: Trent Johnson resigned Sunday as LSU’s basketball coach after four seasons. It’s been widely speculated Johnson will become the new head coach at TCU. TCU issued a statement Sunday saying it will hold a news conference today to make a major announcement concerning its men’s basketball program. Former Christian County standout Anthony Hickey Jr. plays for LSU.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports Tennessee Lady Vols assistant coach Dean Lockwood has denied a report he is a candidate for the head coaching position at the University of Michigan. Another Lady Vols assistant, Mickie DeMoss, recently left the school to join the coaching staff of the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, fueling speculation head coach Pat Summitt may be stepping down after 38 seasons due to being diagnosed with early onset dementia last fall.
College Football: Former Fort Campbell standout Antonio Andrews scored four touchdowns in Western Kentucky University’s scrimmage on Saturday. Andrews rushed for 154 yards on 13 carries in the game. The Hilltoppers will conclude spring practice with the annual Red-White game on Saturday at 6 in Bowling Green.
NHL: The Nashville Predators will face arch rival Detroit in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The first two games will take place in Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday and Friday nights.
Minor League Baseball: The Nashville Sounds got their first win of the season Sunday, downing the New Orleans Zephyrs 1-0. The Sounds continue their season opening road trip tonight at Oklahoma City.
After being off on Sunday, the Bowling Green Hot Rods take to the road for the first time this season, opening a series at West Michigan.
