Girls 2nd region All A scores: University Heights advanced to the championship game with a 80-49 win over Crittenden County. Three Lady Blazers were in double figures led by Dannika Prater with 25, Denayia Holmes added 21 and Cache Richardson scored 17. The Lady Blazers improved to 16-1 on the season with the victory and will face Webster County, who defeated Livingston Central 56-48. The game will tip off at 6 Saturday night in Dawson Springs.
Elsewhere: Hopkinsville defeated Hopkins Central 68-23, 1st region All A Classic semifinal play saw Murray defeat Mayfield 45-33 and St. Mary edge Ballard Memorial 55-54, Owensboro Catholic wins the 3rd region All A title 57-45 over McLean County.
Boys: Hopkinsville rolled over Fort Campbell 101-41, Christian County lost to New Rochelle, NY 67-52 at the Toyota Classic at Scott County, Russellville defeated Monroe County 61-54 at the 4th region All A Classic, South Fulton, TN defeated Graves County 63-52.
Boys 2nd region All A at Dawson Springs: University Heights meets Trigg County in the first game at 6, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 5:45 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and online at whopam.com. The second semifinal has Livingston Central meeting Webster County.

Former Heritage Christian Academy standout John Fraley had 13 points and 15 rebounds as Austin Peay defeated SIU Edwardsville 80-67. Former UHA standout Tyshwan Edmondson scored eight in the win for the Governors. Austin Peay returns to OVC action Saturday night at Eastern Illinois.
In the SEC: Vanderbilt defeated Alabama 69-59.
Women’s scores: Kentucky edged Georgia 69-64, Tennessee defeated LSU 65-56, Arkansas upset Vanderbilt 69-47.

The Tennessean reports construction work is underway on the Tennessee State University campus as part of the refurbishment of Hale Stadium. TSU plans to play one football game there this season, with the possibility of two others. Officials say the one million dollar renovation will be complete a couple of weeks before the first home game, scheduled for September 15th against Austin Peay.
Former University of Kentucky defensive coordinator Steve Brown has landed a new job. Brown will serve on the Tennessee Titans staff as assistant secondary coach. Brown—who once played with the Houston Oilers—worked on the St. Louis Rams staff from 1995-2000 before joining the UK staff.
The Nashville Predators finished a three game Eastern road trip with a 3-0 shutout at Columbus. Pekka Rinne had 38 saves in goal for Nashville, who hosts Chicago tomorrow night at 7 in Bridgestone Arena.
