College Football: There’s four more bowl games on the schedule for this New Year’s Eve. The Advocare Bowl has Arizona facing Boston College, the Sun Bowl has 17th ranked UCLA going against Virginia Tech, Rice meets Mississippi State in the Liberty Bowl and 21st ranked Texas A&M in what might by quarterback Johnny Manziel’s last game meeting 24th ranked Duke in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.
The Courier Journal reports University of Louisville safety Calvin Pryor announced late Sunday night he will not return for his senior year. Pryor made the announcement via Instagram saying it was time to move on and that he enjoyed his time at U of L. Pryor had four interceptions and was second on the team with 54 tackles this season.
University of Texas athletics director Steve Peterson would like to have a new coach in place by January 15th. Two newspapers in the Lone Star state report the university has four primary candidates in mind, two of which are Louisville coach Charlie Strong and Vanderbilt coach James Franklin.
Meanwhile, Franklin’s name has also been linked according to a Pennsylvania newspaper to the potential opening at Penn State. Current coach Bill O’ Brien is rumored to be considered for an NFL opening.
Former NFL and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has found a new job. Tebow will begin work next week for ESPN on its coverage of the BCS title game and will become an analyst for the new SEC Network which debuts next August.
College Basketball: There’s a number of Top 25 teams in action today and tonight, including 10th ranked Louisville at Central Florida. The highest ranked team in action is 2nd ranked Syracuse who hosts Eastern Michigan.
NHL: The 2014 Winter Classic takes place tomorrow in Ann Arbor, MI. However, the site of the 2015 game may already be determined. Multiple reports indicate Nationals Park in Washington, DC will host the game. The Washington Capitals do not have an opponent for the game.
MLB: The Reds Hot Stove League program takes place this evening, beginning at 6:06 on News/Talk WHOP.
