College Basketball: Four Top 25 teams are in action this evening including 13th ranked Memphis opening its season against Austin Peay. Other action has 6th rated Arizona meeting San Diego State, 16th ranked Wichita State meeting William and Mary and 19th ranked Connecticut going against Detroit.
College Football: One Top 25 team is in action this evening as 8th ranked Clemson hosts Georgia Tech.
NFL: Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak was back in practice Wednesday and could return to the sideline Sunday when the Texans meet Oakland. Kubiak missed last week’s game with the Arizona Cardinals to recover from a mini-stroke suffered two weeks ago at halftime of the Texans game against Indianapolis.
MLB: The last of baseball’s post season awards will be announced later today as the Most Valuable Player in both the American and National League’s will be announced. Detroit third baseman Miguel Cabrera is seeking his second consecutive American League award and is joined by Baltimore first baseman Chris Davis and LA Angels outfielder Mike Trout as finalists.
National League finalists are St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen and Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.
