Friday’s High School Football scores
Both Christian County and Hopkinsville were in Class 5A district action last night.
Christian County improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in district play with a 41-0 win at Ohio County. The Colonels return to action next Friday at Apollo.
Hopkinsville got its first district win in snapping a four game losing streak in defeating Apollo 44-0. The Tigers are now 3-4 and 1-1 in district competition.
Other games: Owensboro Catholic shut out Todd Central 37-0, Caldwell County rolled over Green County 54-8, Paducah Tilghman defeated Madisonville 41-0, Calloway County blanked Hopkins Central 46-0, McCracken County defeated Graves County 63-30, Marshall County over Crittenden County 43-0, Murray rolled over Ballard Memorial 50-7.
Union County over Butler County 49-16, Mayfield over Fulton City 63-0, Daviess County upset South Warren 8-3, Franklin Simpson over Warren East 37-7, Warren Central defeated Owensboro 28-7, Barren County upset Greenwood 14-10.

Volleyball: Hopkinsville and Christian County are among several Western Kentucky teams continuing play in the Quad State tournament at McCracken County High School.
Girls Soccer: University Heights hosts Rossview, Christian County at Warren Central, Fort Campbell at Clarksville Academy, Logan County at Apollo, Todd Central travels to Union County, Crittenden County hosts McLean County, Marshall County at Ohio County, Graves County at Lafayette.
Boys Soccer: University Heights welcomes Trigg County, Todd Central is at Union County, Henderson County hosts Bowling Green, McCracken County hosts Calloway County, Graves County hosts Massac County, IL, South Warren is at Apollo, Greenwood hosts Louisville Male.
College Football: South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier looks for his 20th all time win with one defeat as the Gamecocks host Kentucky. Connor Shaw will start at quarterback for South Carolina, however Kentucky’s starter remains a mystery. Pre game coverage begins at 5 pm on Lite 98.7.
Other SEC games today include Tennessee taking on Georgia and Vanderbilt hosts Missouri.
7th ranked Louisville opens American Athletic Conference action today against Templie.
Ohio Valley Conference action has Murray State hosting Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay playing its first conference game at Eastern Kentucky.
During today’s Austin Peay-EKU game, former Christian County football standout Tony McCombs will be honored as one of the new members of the EKU Sports Hall of Fame. McCombs played for the Colonels from 1994-96 and was the OVC defensive player of the year and first team All American in 1996. McCombs was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 1997 and played five years in the NFL.
NFL: The 3-1 Tennessee Titans face the 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs tomorrow at LP Field. The Chiefs are 4-0 for the first time since starting the season 9-0 in 2003. The Titans will have Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback replacing the injured Jake Locker.
Also tomorrow, the New Orleans Saints play at the Chicago Bears on the NFL game of the week which you can hear beginning at 11:30 am on News/Talk WHOP.
NHL: The Nashville Predators lost for the second time in as many starts, falling to the Colorado Avalanche 3-1 last night. Paul Gaustad got the lone goal in the game for Nashville. The Predators play their home opener against the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night at 7 in Bridgestone Arena.
