Late tonight in Oakland, the Athletics host Detroit in game one of an ALDS series. Max Scherzer is the Tigers starter while the A’s come with Bartolo Colon.
The Cincinnati Reds and manager Dusty Baker are parting ways. Multiple reports say it’s not known if Baker was fired or he resigned. The Reds are to make an official announcement sometime today.
Baker guided the Reds to the playoffs in three of the last four years, including this season’s 90-72 mark. The Reds lost to Pittsburgh in the NL Wild Card game earlier this week. Reports also indicate the Reds will pay Baker the final year of his contract, which was to expire next year.
In six seasons at the helm, Baker, who had one year remaining on his contract, posted a record of 509-463. The Reds won division titles in 2010 and 2012, but lost in the Division Series each year and had a postseason mark of 2-7 under Baker.
College Football: There are a couple of games to note this evening as BYU takes on Utah State and Nevada meets San Diego State.

Team officials are concerned Hoyer may have torn an ACL. Hoyer had been elevated from third string to starting quarterback and had led the Browns to wins over Minnesota and Cincinnati.
NHL: The Nashville Predators try again to get their first win of the season as the Predators play in Denver this evening.
