College Football: Western Kentucky helps start this weekend’s schedule with a Sun Belt Conference game at Louisiana Monroe, with pre game coverage at 5:30 this afternoon on News/Talk WHOP.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier announced following Wednesday’s practice Connor Shaw will start at quarterback against Kentucky Saturday. Shaw injured his right shoulder in the opening series of South Carolina’s win at Central Florida last Saturday and was expected to miss this week’s game. However, Spurrier said the injury was not as serious as first thought. You can hear Saturday’s game beginning at 5 on Lite 98.7.
College Basketball: Kentucky Sports Radio reports Kentucky’s game with Providence at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn December 1st will now tip off at 7:30 pm. The time change was made to accommodate Fox Sports 1 who will televise the game.
Former Murray State basketball great Ronald “Popeye” Jones is one of seven new inductees into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. The Dresden, TN native also had an 11 year NBA career with several different teams. Jones will be joined in the class by long time Nashville television sportscaster Hope Hines and former Austin Peay football player Carlton Flatt.
The induction ceremony will be held May 17, 2014 at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville.
MLB: The National League division series begin later today in St. Louis and Atlanta. The Cardinals host Pittsburgh. Adam Wainwright starts on the bump for the Redbirds while the Bucs counter with AJ Burnett.
Later this evening the Atlanta Braves send 15 game winner Kris Medlen to the mound against the Los Angeles Dodgers who counter with former Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw.
NFL: Week 5 begins this evening with an AFC matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills.
NHL: The Nashville Predators open regular season play this evening at St. Louis, with first puck dropping at 7:30.
