College Football: Kentucky faces a Florida team Saturday who could be without one of its cornerbacks for part of the game. The Lexington Herald Leader citing a Miami Herald report says cornerback Brian Poole was ejected from Saturday’s game with Tennessee for targeting and leading with the crown of his helmet on a hit to Vols tight end AJ Bransiel.
If the Southeastern Conference upholds the penalty, Poole will miss the first half of Saturday’s game. Pre game coverage begins at 4:30 Saturday on Lite 98.7.

Two Western Kentucky University football players have been honored for their play by the Sun Belt Conference. Linebacker Xavius Boyd was named the defensive player of the week while Jonathan Dowling was named the special teams player of the week.
Boyd led all tacklers with 10 in the Hilltoppers 58-17 win over Morgan State on Saturday, while Dowling returned a blocked field goal attempt 70 yards for a touchdown. WKU hosts Navy at 1 pm Saturday, with pre game coverage at noon on News/Talk WHOP.
Kentucky Sports Radio reports Caldwell County quarterback Elijah Sindelar says Kentucky is number one on his list of schools right now. The junior was offered a scholarship by Kentucky and WKU during the summer. Alabama has also shown interest and is currently second on Sindelar’s list. Sindelar ranks 9th among 2015 quarterback prospects according to Scout.com.
NFL: The Denver Broncos will try to become the 6th member of the NFL’s 3-0 club as they host Oakland for Monday Night Football this evening. The other five 3-0 teams are New Orleans, Seattle, New England, Miami and Kansas City.
MLB: The Cincinnati Reds open a series with the NY Mets this evening at Great American Ballpark, with air time at 5:40 on News/Talk WHOP. The Reds begin play this evening 2 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central along with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Cardinals host Washington this evening, while the Pirates play at the Chicago Cubs. The Reds and Pirates are currently tied for the two NL wild card spots. East division champion Atlanta host Milwaukee.
NHL: The Nashville Predators have three pre season games this week. The Predators host Tampa Bay tomorrow night at 7 and travel to Washington for a 6 pm game Wednesday, which you can hear on News/Talk WHOP.
The Predators close out the pre season Friday night at the NY Islanders, the team which Nashville defeated 2-0 Sunday at Bridgestone Arena.
