College Basketball: The University of Kentucky has announced its December 21st game with Belmont will be televised on ESPNU. Tip off from Rupp Arena is set for 11 am Hopkinsville time and it will be the first meeting ever between the schools. The game will also be heard on Lite 98.7, home of UK Sports.
CBS Sports.com has published results of a poll of college basketball coaches on a number of topics. One of the questions was how good Kentucky would be this season. 87 percent of those polled think the Wildcats will be more like the 2011-12 National Championship team, while 13 percent think they will be no better than last year’s team that lost to Robert Morris in the NIT.
NFL: There’s two pre season games this evening as Seattle travels to Green Bay and Chicago is at Oakland.
The Tennessee Titans seek their first pre season win tomorrow night when they host the Atlanta Falcons, also winless in the pre season. Kickoff at LP Field is at 7 pm.
MLB: The Cincinnati Reds open a weekend series with the Milwaukee Brewers this evening at Great American Ballpark. The Reds are still 2 ½ games behind Pittsburgh in the NL Central race. St. Louis trails the Pirates by a game as they continue their series at East leader Atlanta this evening, while the Chicago Cubs are at San Diego.
Meanwhile, NL Central leader Pittsburgh plays at San Francisco.
The Los Angeles Times reported this morning the Los Angeles Dodgers are to announce today that long time announcer Vin Scully will return for his 65th season next year. The 85-year-old Scully began his career with the Dodgers while in Brooklyn as understudy of the legendary Red Barber.
