College Football: Kentucky coach Mark Stoops announced Wednesday that former walk on JD Harmon of Paducah will be back with the team this season, however, he will not play in any games. It was recently announced that Harmon would not be on the team due to academic issues. No explanation was offered by a UK spokesman on why Harmon was allowed to return.
Meanwhile, junior college cornerback Nate Willis has arrived in Lexington after completing his course work at Arizona Western. Coach Stoops said Willis would begin workouts with the team today.
College Basketball: Kentucky Sports Radio reports for the 17th time in the past 18 years, the University of Kentucky led the nation in average home attendance last season. 23,099 fans per game came to Rupp Arena to watch the Wildcats.
National champion Louisville was third in average attendance as 21,151 fans came to the KFC/Yum Center to watch the Cards last season. Tennessee was 8th in the top 10 schools at 16, 635 fans per game.
The Courier Journal reports University of Florida freshman Sydney Moss has transferred to Division Three Thomas More College in northern Kentucky. Moss-the daughter of former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss-was Kentucky Miss Basketball in 2012. She played for Boone County High School.
Moss averaged 11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in her one season at Florida. Moss will be eligible to play for Thomas More immediately.
MLB: The Cincinnati Reds open a four game series at Milwaukee this evening, with pre game coverage from Miller Field on the air at 6:40 on News/Talk WHOP.
Another game of note today has the St. Louis Cardinals closing out a series with Pittsburgh this afternoon at Busch Stadium.
NFL: There are four pre season games on the schedule this evening. Games include Cleveland at Detroit, Atlanta at Baltimore, San Diego at Chicago and Carolina at Philadelphia.
