Hoppers Baseball: The Hoptown Hoppers scored nine runs in their last three at bats, rallying from an 8-2 deficit to defeat
The Railroaders lit up Hoppers starter Collin Lee for five runs on eight hits in the first two innings, then added two more on a home run from Ramon Valdez in the fourth before Lee was lifted for Trevor Blocker, who was greeted by Taylor Douglas with a solo blast.
The Hoppers scored four times in the 7th, chasing Railroaders starter Collin Hatch. Then in the 8th, Hoptown got four more runs off relievers Brandon Diaz and Caleb Shelley.

The Tennessean reports Nashville Metro police as saying the sex crimes investigation involving four members of Vanderbilt’s football team is near completion. Police and university officials are remaining tight lipped about the investigation, other than to say two investigators went to the West Coast last week for a matter.
The four players were dismissed from the team. A Nashville Metro police spokesman says there’s still no definite time frame on when more information will be released.
College Basketball: Vanderbilt’s backcourt for the upcoming season took a significant hit Monday. Kedren Johnson was suspended from the university and Kevin Bright has voluntarily left school.
In a statement released by the university, Johnson said in a letter he was suspended for the upcoming season for what he termed a “stupid mistake” he made. Johnson said the suspension occurred for an action which took place at the end of the 2012-13 academic year. Johnson was the Commodores leading scorer last season at 13.5 points per game.
