The 2013 Christian County Relay for Life campaign will be getting underway in a little over two weeks and organizers say now is the time to get involved.
The fundraising campaign that benefits cancer patients and research is a year-long campaign and 2012 Relay Chair Ashley Johnson says volunteers are already being actively sought.
As previously reported, this year’s relay exceeded the goal of 130-thousand dollars and Ms. Johnson says the magnitude of the community’s support can’t be overstated.
A 2013 Relay organizational meeting will be held August 30th at 5:30pm at the Hampton Inn.
A Lewisburg man was killed during last night’s severe weather.
Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whitaker says 55-year old Billy Duck was sitting on the porch of his home when a tree toppled onto it by the wind.
The incident happened around 9pm, with Duck pronounced dead at Logan Memorial Hospital.
Hopkinsville Police are investigating an armed robbery on East 17th Street from last night.
The incident happened between 7:30 and 8pm near the 500 block of East 17th, according to the report, which says 19-year old Allyssa Berry of Hopkinsville was approached from behind by two suspects wearing masks who put a gun to her back and forced her into a white vehicle.
The perpetrators took her wallet and cell phone before letting her go and driving away. No named suspects are listed on the report and the investigation continues.
Hopkinsville Police say thanks to an anonymous tipster, two alleged burglars have been apprehended.
18-year old Hunter Jackson Barnett of Crofton is charged with 3rd degree burglary and 3rd degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
Police say through the course of investigation Barnett and a 17-year old male unlawfully entered the Indian Hills Bowling Alley after it was closed and stole a drum set, two speakers, amplifiers and a flat screen television that had a total estimated cost of $1,900.
Police say the anonymous tipster was able to tell police the location of the male juvenile, who later admitted to committing the crime.
Police say the tipster will be receiving a cash reward for their efforts.
