A two-vehicle wreck on South Main Street yesterday afternoon injured a local man.
The report from Hopkinsville Police says the incident happened around 3:45 at the intersection with Wooldridge Rd. Police say 81-year old Hurchel Myers of Hopkinsville was northbound on South Main when he attempted to turn left onto Wooldridge.
Myers’ vehicle struck the driver’s side door of a vehicle driven by 39-year old Tammy Schron of Hopkinsville and then continued into a utility pole. Myers was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of neck pain, while Ms. Schron went uninjured.
A Hopkinsville man was arrested Friday afternoon on wanton endangerment and other charges after allegedly making disturbing threats to a woman and starting a small fire.
Served with a warrant on wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and terroristic threatening charges was 27-year old Donald Ray Merritt of Hopkinsville. The warrant says Merritt texted a woman Friday and said he hoped someone raped and killed her and that someone would shoot her house.
He also allegedly said he hoped her children were scared and the warrant alleges that he broke a window in the woman’s home.
That followed an incident on November 2nd when Merritt allegedly told the woman that he hoped he could shoot her and get away with it and that he hoped her house would burn down. A friend later called the woman to say there was something burning on her apartment porch.
Merritt later allegedly told the woman he was sorry about the incident and police were not called until several days later. He remains in the Christian County Jail on $6,400 bond.
A Fort Campbell man was flown to a Nashville hospital following a motorcycle wreck in Trigg County Saturday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police say 36-year old Scott Scheurman of Fort Campbell was westbound on Kentucky 164 around 12:30pm when he ran off the road and into a ditch.
Scheurman, who was wearing a helmet, was flown by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
A Murray man was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly stabbing a juvenile in Trigg County.
A news release from Cadiz Police says officers responded to an assault call at the Barkley Manor Apartments around 5:30am and talked to Latosha Woods. Ms. Woods said 28-year old Deronte Moss of Murray had knocked on her door earlier in the morning and that he forced his way inside after she opened.
Moss then allegedly began arguing with a 17-year old male at the home and used some type of knife to stab him in the arm. The juvenile was taken to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of his wound.
Moss was found at a Pine Street residence in Murray around 10:30 and was charged with assault and burglary. He was arrested after receiving treatment at Murray-Calloway County hospital with wounds consistent with being cut by a knife.
He was also served with a warrant by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office for burglary charges for a an alleged incident earlier this month when he forced his way into Ms. Woods’ home and assaulted her.
Moss was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
