More details are now known about a single-vehicle wreck in Todd County Wednesday night that sent a Christian County man to a Nashville hospital.
Todd County Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy White says 32-year old Richard McCain of Hopkinsville was westbound on Butler Road around 7:30 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and ran off the side of the pavement.
The pickup continued about 400 feet before coming back onto the road and overturning onto its side. McCain and his passenger, 29-year old James Mitchell of Hopkinsville, were both not wearing a seat belt and were ejected from the vehicle.
Deputy White says Mitchell took off running and McCain was taken by ambulance to a landing area where an Air Evac helicopter transported him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for serious injuries. Mitchell was later found, but was not charged with any crime.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident and the investigation continues.
