Area lawmakers are still waiting to find out if Governor Steve Beshear will heed House Speaker Greg Stumbo's request to call a special session of the General Assembly for the purpose of redistricting.
Republican Ninth District Representative Myron Dossett, who is a member of the minority caucus, says he'd only see a special session as a viable option if there was certain agreement in House and Senate leadership on the new boundaries before they ever convened.
Eighth District State Representative John Tilley, who is a Democrat, says he believes a special session will occur sometime this summer or possibly in the fall, simply out of necessity.
Sixteenth District Representative Martha Jane King, who represents Todd and Logan counties as a Democrat, says no one likes special sessions, but it may be needed considering next year is a budget session.
The House passed a somewhat controversial redistricting plan during this year's short session, but the upper chamber chose to not address the issue, including not holding a vote on the House plan.
