An Elkton woman was charged with drug trafficking after being pulled over by police in Christian County early Thursday morning.
Christian County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Hawkins stopped 31-year old Paula Gilkey of Elkton on the KY 1682 bypass around 2:30 am after she was seen crossing the yellow line several times. Deputy Hawkins writes on the report that Gilkey is known to have had a drug problem and he asked her about any pills she may have taken.
Gilkey reportedly said she had just had two prescriptions filled for pain killers, though Deputy Hawkins writes several pills were already missing from both bottles. A K9 unit was called to the scene, resulting a search of the car. Gilkey's pills were allegedly found in the passenger side seat and in the pockets of the passenger—33-year old Cody Heady of Crofton.
Gilkey was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and Heady was charged with two counts of possession. Both were lodged in the Christian County Jail.
