School is out in Christian and most surrounding counties Thursday as the temperature failed to rise above freezing Wednesday and the area got an additional dusting of snow.
Christian, Todd, Trigg, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, Logan and Stewart County schools are dismissed, as are Heritage Christian Academy, Saints Peter and Paul and Russellville schools.
Pennyrile Electric crews have been out since Tuesday evening and had the number of members without power down to a little less than 250 by early Thursday morning.
All of the outages in Todd County were fixed, all but two members had power again in Logan County, 40 remained in the dark in Trigg County and Christian County still had 184 members without electricity.
Mark Giltner of Pennyrile says remaining problem areas in Christian County include Doug Combs Road, where 61 members are out, there are 45 members out on Wade Road, 26 on Clark Store-Sinking Fork Road, 22 members on Collins Bridge Road, eight on J. Knight Road, 12 members out on Kyle Road and three members in the dark on Wagoner Road. They anticipate all outages to be restored today.
Hopkinsville Electric System and Kentucky Utilities didn’t report any outages in Christian County.
Road conditions have improved in many places, but motorists are urged to use appropriate caution, especially on bridges, overpasses and lesser traveled roads.
There is another chance of snow this weekend, but the National Weather Service doesn’t expect it to cause major problems.
