A public defender has been appointed to represent a Todd County teen who is accused of murdering his adopted sister back in February 2011.
Garrett Dye appeared in Todd Circuit Court today, where Judge Tyler Gil appointed his case to the Public Defender’s Office and set a new trial date of March 24th.
Dye was previously represented by Dennis Ritchie
As previously reported, Dye’s 50-year sentence was overturned after the Kentucky Supreme Court determined his confession is inadmissible in court.
On November 25th, 2011 Dye was sentenced to 50 years for murder, 12 months for resisting arrest and three years for tampering with evidence, to run concurrently.
Dye is accused of the brutal killing of his adopted sister, 9-year old Amy Dye, whose lifeless body was found February 5th, 2011 near Dogwood Lane.
