Todd Fiscal Court approved final reading of its property tax rates at a special called meeting this morning.
The rate for real property will remain at 9.9 cents per $100 of assessed value and the vote was unanimous. Before and after the meeting, many were still discussing the previous night's public open house regarding Clarskville's proposed natural gas line that will run through several properties east and south of Elkton on the way to Montgomery County.
The Kentucky General Assembly will be looking to change state laws regarding eminent domain during next year's session in response to the Bluegrass Pipeline impacting 13 counties in other parts of the state, but Todd County Attorney Mac Johns says the local case will be a federal issue.
District 5 Magistrate Jimmy Turner represents much of southern Todd County and says none of his constituents will give easements to Clarksville Gas and Water and he'll do whatever he can to help stop the project.
The tax rates were the only item on the agenda for the special-called meeting.
