The Republican Caucus in the Kentucky House of Representatives has proposed its own legislative redistricting map for the upcoming special session.
House Minority Leader Jeff Hoover presented it in a press conference in Frankfort. It would pit two pairs of Republicans against each other, two pairs of Democrats and 15th District State Representative Brent Yonts would have to face Republican Representaitve C.B. Embry in next year's election.
Ninth District State Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke admits the map isn't likely to pass, but says it was meant to show that a fair and constitutional map could be passed.
The proposal would have Dossett representing all of southern Christian County and all of Todd County. He says he'd be happy with that scenario, considering his proximity and familiarity with Todd County.
Eighth District Representative John Tilley would have Hopkinsville and portions of north Christian under the propsoal and Representative Ben Waide of Madisonville would have a small sliver of north Christian. The special session begins August 19 and will last five days.
