No one was injured when a plane made a crash landing in a Todd County field Tuesday morning.
Todd County Emergency Management Director Tim Pulley says the small aircraft went down around 9:30 near the intersection of KY 181 and Liberty Road.
Kentucky State Police have identified the pilot as 69-year old Roger Pointer of Maxwell, Iowa and his passenger as 52-year old Michael Callison of Des Moines. Trooper Stu Recke says the pilot was reportedly attempting to land his 1946 model plane on the roadway and was unsuccessful.
The men were on the way from Florida back to Iowa. The soybean field where the plane crashed is owned by Todd County Judge-Executive Daryl Greenfield. The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating a scene in Todd County for the second time this summer. A plane piloted by Circuit Judge Tyler Gill went down shortly after takeoff from the airstrip last month, sending him to Gateway Medical Center for minor injuries.
