The Kentucky Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the General Assembly’s re-districting legislation Friday.
A news release says arguments will begin Friday morning at 9am central time Friday in Frankfort. The state’s highest court will rule on whether the bills passed by the state house and senate are constitutional or if new boundaries will have to be drawn.
A Franklin Circuit Judge ruled last month that legislators will have to run in their old districts, saying the new ones were drawn with political motivations. The General Assembly must re-district every ten years following the census, with each district having to represent an equal percentage of the state’s population as the others.
A Madisonville man was arrested on 300 counts of possession child porn last night in Hopkins County.
A news release from State Police says 25-year old Martin Clouse of Madisonville was jailed in the Hopkins County Detention Center after an investigation turned up the images at his Timmons Lane residence.
Detective Dan Morck is the lead investigator and police say no images of local children have been found.
John Logan Patman
Kentucky State Police have arrested a Christian County man accused of shooting his father during a dispute late last night.
The incident happened around 11:17 at 2870 Gospel of Peace Road, according to a news release from KSP, which says 64-year old John C. Patman and 30-year old John L. Patman—who both have a Hopkinsville address—were arguing when the elder Patman attempted to leave.
That’s when the son allegedly fired shots into his father’s vehicle, which reportedly hit him in the neck.
The victim was able to drive himself to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, before being taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
John C. Patman was arrested at a nearby residence without incident and charged with 1st degree assault and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
State Police were assisted by the Christian County Sheriff’s office at the scene and Hopkinsville Police at the hospital.
The injuries inflicted were not serious, but Hopkinsville Police arrested a woman early this morning charged with stabbing a man in a domestic assault.
The incident happened around 12:50 at 1848 Greenville Road, Apartment C—according to the arrest card—which says a male victim said 28-year old Ashley Winston of Hopkinsville had stabbed him with a knife in the left temple.
Officer Patricia Alexander writes the victim was bleeding from a small cut on the left temple and Winston was arrested and charged with 2nd degree domestic assault and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting incident in the county from last night.
A KSP dispatcher could not give many details, but said troopers remained on the scene of the incident—which is somewhere on Gospel of Peace Road. Hopkinsville Police Officer Roger Stephens said city police responded to Jennie Stuart Medical Center late in the evening after a man drove himself there with a gunshot wound to the neck.
Police believe the shot was fired by the man’s son and the victim is now at a Nashville hospital, believed to be in critical condition.
The dispatcher said he expects more information on the incident to be released later this morning.
