A Hopkinsville man with an extensive criminal history was arrested again by the Christian County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning for an alleged theft on Stone Lane.
The report says the victim called police saying he observed someone stealing steel wiring from his property on Stone Lane just after 9 a.m. He said the man was driving a tan suburban and headed toward Hopkinsville.
Christian County Sheriff's Captain Chris Miller detained 42-year old Billy Sanders, Jr. of Rose Drive soon after at City Salvage, where he was in a vehicle matching the description allegedly attempting to sell the steel wiring.
Sanders was taken to the Sheriff's Department, where he allegedly admitted to the theft. He was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and lodged in the Christian County Jail. He was also served with an arrest warrant on escape charges.
Sanders was arrested June 26 for allegedly breaking into vehicles on Old Major Lane and was served with another warrant in jail for a similar incident. He has been arrested well over 20 times in the last 10 years in Christian County.
