Local and federal authorities investigated Monday after an apparent pipe bomb was found on Madisonville Road.
The Christian County Sheriff's Office report from Deputy Eddie Frye says Jacob Hyde noticed a pipe laying in his yard covered with a rag. Hyde didn't recognize the object as a bomb and put it in the cab of his truck and drove it to his grandfather's house in Lafayette to ask if he knew what it might be.
His grandfather said it was a pipe bomb and and police were called around 4:30 p.m. The report says the device was blue in color and and had two end caps on it.
The Fort Campbell Explosive Ordinance Division was called to remove the item and it was safely detonated later in the evening. Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is continuing to investigate the incident.
