Several western Kentucky counties are among 91 counties across the state to receive a portion of a $1.2 million grant to promote school readiness for children.
Governor Steve Beshear says the money will go towards funding Community Early Childhood Councils located throughout the Commonwealth.
According to the Governor’s Office, the announcement is part of the Governor’s continuing commitment to improve education and health services for Kentucky’s youngest citizens.
Officials say individual grants range from $5,000 to $50,000 per county with Christian County to receive $25,000, Trigg County to receive $7,000 and Todd County to receive $8,100.
Calloway County will receive $15,100, Hopkins County will receive $20,000, and Muhlenberg County will receive $14,300.
