Major improvements continue at the Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park and one major part of those improvements was completed this week.
A restroom facility at the Pennyrile Equestrian Trailhead became operational Tuesday, according to Christian County Treasurer Walter Cummings, who says an $80,000 grant helped make it possible.
Cummings says the improvements wouldn't get done without the Friends of the Pennyrile, which is a group of volunteers who help the park in any way possible. The trailhead is used by horseback riders and bikers and Cummings says officials hope more people will visit the park with the improvements.
Other projects are still ongoing and are paid for with the grant money, including land clearing and rock work. The required match for the grant funds was made with in-kind donations and work.
