Fireworks will be seen and heard around the area the next few days and residents are reminded of some important safety tips.
Hopkinsville Fire Inspector Cecelia Cloos says more often than not, it's smaller fireworks like firecrackers and sparklers that injure people around the Fourth of July.
Inspector Cloos says if you are going to attend a private fireworks show, stay a safe distance from the person shooting them off.
While conditions are nowhere near as dry as they were last year, residents are still reminded to not shoot off bottle rockets or other fireworks that go into the air in an area where they could land and start a field fire. It's also against the law to shoot fireworks within 200 feet of a home, vehicle or other person inside the city limits of Hopkinsville.
