Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury wreck that occurred on I-24 at the 88-mile marker Tuesday morning.
State Police the preliminary investigation revealed that 32-year old Justin McElhaney of Midwest City, Oklahoma was operating a 2012 International tractor-trailer westbound on I-24 and 36-year old Rowland Turner of Clarksville was operating a 2008 Honda Civic westbound on I-24 in front of McElhaney.
State Police say both vehicles were entering the construction zone and Turner had slowed to a stop for merging traffic and McElhaney glanced away for a moment and did not realize that traffic had stopped and as a result his vehicle struck Turner’s vehicle.
Turner was transported by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center for treatment with McElhaney going uninjured in the incident.
State Police say both drivers were wearing seatbelts and there were no passengers in either vehicle.
