A Hopkinsville woman who called police to her residence to investigate a burglary was cited into court on cruelty to animal charges.
Hopkinsville Police Officer Robert Sibal responded to 1405 McKee Street around 8:15 Thursday night to investigate the theft of a big screen television, a microwave oven, a video game system and $450 cash.
While at the home, Officer Sibal writes he saw a dog that was malnourished to the point its bones were showing all over its body. Photographs of the animal were taken and Animal Control was asked to check up on the dog again.
Officer Sibal writes there was no food or water in the home and 35-year old Taiula Shepherd of Hopkinsville blamed her juvenile daughter for not feeding the animal in the previous two days. Ms. Shepherd was cited into court on second degree cruelty to animals charges.
