Kentucky State Police are investigating after Calloway County Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a fatal residential fire that started early this morning.
State Police say dispatchers received the call around 4:42 a.m. concerning a house fire located at 820 3rd Street, in Hazel, Kentucky.
Police say the fire claimed the life of an unidentified person and that an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning at the KSP Western Lab in Madisonville to determine positive identification of the deceased and cause of death.
Police say the cause of the fire appears to be accidental in nature and no foul play is suspected at this time.
The fire investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator Rick Godsey.
Deputy State Fire Marshall Bill Compton, Hazel Fire Department, Calloway County Fire Department, Calloway County Coroner Office and the Calloway County Sherriff’s Department also assisted on the scene.
