A member of the Marion Bobcat baseball team was seriously injured in a rear-end collision just across the state line in Tennessee on I-24 Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Vanderbilt University Medical Center says 19-year old Luke Pearce of Madison, Alabama is in stable condition. Pearce had been westbound on I-24 near Exit 1 just before 1 pm when he rear-ended a tractor-trailer driven by 54-year old Duncan Collier of Nashville, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Collier's semi was stopped with traffic and he was not hurt. A Lifeflight helcopter took Pearce to the Nashville hospital. Both men were wearing their seat belt. It's likely Pearce was on his way back to Crittenden County, where the Bobcats were scheduled to face the Hoptown Hoppers Tuesday night.
