A Cadiz man was arrested after a foot chase last night that began with a trespassing investigation.
A news release from Cadiz Police says 21-year old Nicholas Merritt of Wallace Avenue, Cadiz is charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, fleeing from police, resisting arrest and being drunk in public.
The investigation began around 10 pm when officers got a call that Merritt was knocking on doors and windows at 54 Mary White Boulevard in the Cadiz Housing Authority. Merritt reportedly has a relationship with the resident of the home, but is not allowed to have contact with her due to an investigation by social services.
Merritt allegedly scaled a fence and tried to hide behind a building when he saw police. He allegedly later refused to show his hands and wouldn't come down from a stairwell, but complied with commands after Sgt. Scott Brown used his taser. Merritt was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
