A Hopkinsville Police trainee was among 27 men and women who graduated from the basic training academy in Richmond today.
Class of 2001 University Heights Academy graduate Jamie Gapp is the newest addition to the Hopkinsville Police Department. Gapp is the son of Doctor Gregory and Tracy Gapp of Hopkinsville.
The 18 week course consisted of nearly 770 hours of recruit-level-officer academy instruction. Major training areas included homeland security, law offenses and procedures, vehicle operations, firearms, investigations, first aid, patrol procedures, orientation for new law enforcement families and mechanics of arrest, restraint and control.
The Madisonville Police Department also adds an officer in William Roundtree, who graduated from the academy.
