A local man was arrested Thursday night for allegedly hitting a parked vehicle while driving impaired.
The alleged incident happened just after 11 pm near the 1900 block of Jan Drive, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 36-year old Charles Barton of Hopkinsville reached for his cell phone while driving and ran into the bumper of a parked vehicle belonging to 25-year old Demuriel Works of the city.
Officer Robert Sibal writes on the arrest citation that Barton smelled of alcohol and that he performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Barton was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain insurance. He allegedly blew a .194 on the breath test—over twice the legal limit.
