A man who allegedly wrecked into two parked vehicles while intoxicated was arrested Saturday evening after a brief foot chase with police.
The police report says officers were called to the Yall's Shell station on East 9th Street, where someone had hit a parked vehicle before leaving and striking another parked vehicle at Auto Zone. A witness was able to get a license plate number and Officer Gabe Gillingham found the vehicle with front end damage on South Virginia Street.
Police say 20-year old Jeremy Duke Abbitt of Hopkinsville ran about 30 yards when approached, but officers soon apprehended him. Abbitt refused a breath test and field sobriety tests, but the report says he smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.
He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing from police and DUI.
