More details are now known about a vehicle versus car wreck Friday afternoon in Hopkinsville that sent a local woman to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Air Evac Helicopter.
Hopkinsville Police say Gina Bloom of the city sustained non life-threatening injuries when she attempted to beat the train at East 12th and railroad around 3:10 pm.
Police believe the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. Ms. Bloom’s sedan sustained severe damage to the passenger side, but the driver’s side remained mostly intact as it sat several feet from the tracks after the collision. Traffic backed up at railroad intersections across Hopkinsville while the train sat still until the engineer was given the go-ahead to proceed.
