Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp says early private fund raising efforts for the proposed Rails to Trails project have been very successful.
Appearing on the Lite 98.7 Early Bird Show, Mayor Kemp says over 200 thousand dollars has been raised through private donations since the effort began in earnest.
Mayor Kemp says larger donations will get the donor naming rights at important spots along the trail, but says no donation is too small.
The Mayor says he wants the project to be a community wide effort and believes it will be a unique asset to the city, if completed. It hasn't come without controversy, as some residents along the trail say it will bring additional crime to their area and reduce their privacy.
