The deadline to file your federal and state income taxes is less than two weeks away and the Kentucky Finance Cabinet says a little more than half of tax-payers have already done the work.
Spokesperson Pamela Trautner says just over one million of the expected 1.8 million returns in Kentucky have been filed and processed. Ms. Trautner says the deadline is April 15th, so now is the time to get your documents together if you haven’t already.
Internet filing has been around for ten years now and Ms. Trautner says over three-fourths of filers use the web to complete their returns.
It takes about seven to 10 days to process electronic returns and the average time to process paper claims is four to six weeks. The average state refund is just over $350.
