Thanks to the efforts of a local farmer, the United Way of the Pennyrile recently received a $2500 check.
Through the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, eligible farmers in 39 states and 1,271 counties entered to win a $2,500 donation for a local nonprofit of their choice.
Bradley Bardwell of Christian County was among other farmers who won and chose to direct the donation to the United Way of the Pennyrile.
United Way President Jennifer Maddux stated she is thrilled to receive this donation which will distributed to various groups to help those in need.
Over 60,000 farmers across the nation entered in this year’s contest with a winning farmer elected in each eligible county.
Officials say this year, the Monsanto Fund also provided twice the financial support to counties that have been declared natural disaster areas by the USDA and since Christian County was fit into that category, Bardwell also chose to donate the $2,500 disaster relief donation to The Future Farmers of America.
