Another internet dating site scam has surfaced in Clarksville.
Clarksville Police recently responded to Best Buy after employees flagged an online $1,900 computer and game system purchase pickup as suspicious and determined the credit card holder didn’t authorize the transaction.
A man who came to pick up the purchase said he met a woman on an online dating site whom he exchanged text messages and emails with. The woman asked him to pick up some items for her uncle and to mail them to Ghana, Africa.
The man said he was not aware the transaction was fraudulent and that he had picked up items on one other occasion under a similar arrangement. The man was able to bring back the previous items and returned them to Best Buy.
