No one was injured when a train partially derailed between Mortons Gap and Nortonville on U.S. 41 in Hopkins County Saturday afternoon.
Hopkins County Emergency Management Deputy Director Nicholas Bailey says there were no evacuations, but a few homeowners on Will Lane became somewhat isolated when their dead-end road was cut off by the derailment that happened around 3:30.
Bailey says the train was hauling some hazardous materials, but none of those cars were involved in the derailment.
CSX is investigating the cause of the incident, according to Bailey, who says there wasn’t an immediate indication on what that might have been.
Kentucky State Police and Hopkins County responders established detours to get around the wreckage until the scene could be cleared.
