The man found dead along the interstate in Hopkins County Saturday died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the coroner.
The 30-year old Lexington man was found dead near the 99 mile-marker on Interstate 69 north around 6:10 Saturday morning. Police had said he ran off the roadway for an unknown reason and hit the guard rail head-on.
A second news release from Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield says the man shot himself one time in the head before the collision and ruled the death as a suicide.
The victim’s name is not being released.
