An extended period of freezing rain overnight has left roads across the area in treacherous condition, with anyone who can stay home advised to do so this morning.
All public and private schools are closed in Christian County, while public schools are also closed in Todd, Trigg, Montgomery and Muhlenberg County. A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 9am for our western Kentucky Counties and for our middle Tennessee counties until noon.
Several wrecks have been reported throughout the area and at least two people on foot have fallen and possibly broken bones in Christian County this morning.
Christian County Road Department Superintendent Chuck Chambers says residents should stay at home this morning, if at all possible.
Chambers says his crews are working to treat the roads, but it’s slow going because of the conditions.
Brent Gilkey of Pennyrile Electric said there were no power outages reported as of about 7am.
