This year’s Todd County Martin Luther King Day commemoration was a success, according to one of its organizers.
The Reverend Lisa Lewis Balboa says about 160 people attended the event Sunday afternoon at Todd County Central High School.
The Johnson Chapel Baptist Church Youth Group took first place in the banner contest sponsored by the Todd County Standard. Second place went to the First Missionary Baptist Church Youth Group, third place was the Todd County Middle School Youth Group and fourth place went to Phillips Chapel CME Church Youth Group.
Reverend Balboa says 60 people participated in the march that began in the city-county park and that Jefferson Davis State Park manager Ron Sydnor talked bout individuals being “the way” to progress.
