Kentucky State Police say they conducted yet another Cram the Cruiser Campaign and wanted to thank the community for making it possible.
State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer announced today that the ‘Cram the Cruiser’ food drive netted 52.6 tons of food, which was collected throughout the state.
In 2011, the campaign collected 50,931 pounds of food and this year there was a 106 percent increase over what the agency did last year.
Brewer was quoted as saying that this campaign was extremely successful and has allowed the agency to reach out to families in need during a critical time of the year. Brewer stated that KSP personnel from the Harlan Post gathered nearly 11 tons of food.
The non-perishable food items were then donated to local shelters, food banks and needy families during the Christmas holiday.
