Hopkinsville Police yesterday arrested two men in two separate incidents for allegedly being intoxicated in a public place.
34-year old James J. Springhower of Glenwood, Iowa and 38-year old Robert G. Paniyak of Chevak, Alaska are both charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place 1st and 2nd Offense.
Police say Paniyak was arrested after officers were dispatched to an accident where he was a passenger and upon contact, officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
Police also state he was unsteady on his feet and had blood shot eyes and blew a .095 on the breath test.
Springhower was taken into custody after police responded to a disturbance at Best Western and when officers arrived on the scene, police reported he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred and had visible wounds on his hands and arms.
Police also say that Springhower walked around the first floor of the building and didn’t know what he was doing and apparently used a trash can to break out the glass window on the north stairwell by the pool, which caused injuries to his hands and arms.
The report also indicated that Springhower blew a .265 on the breath test.
Both men were taken into custody without incident.
